Child sexual abuse is a complex and evolving issue which requires a dynamic organization that can adapt to its changing face. One of the ways that Stairway manages to keep abreast is through research. A recently completed study looked at the effects of the animations on children. The results showed that of all the learnings that the children had gotten from the video, taking action when a potentially abusive situation occurs is the most common. This has validated Stairway’s efforts to strengthen the capacities of adults to be aware of and understand the issue.
Another research being completed is about online safety. It looks at the internet usage of school-age children and their exposure to a potentially abusive online encounter. Findings from the research would help lobby for the existing Senate Bill against Child Pornography.
